The Great Crested Grebes Of Tring Reservoirs

The great crested grebe has to be my favourite water bird due to its striking plumage and its intresting behaviour. I was watching Birds Britannia today and saw that they mentioned the grebes of Tring Reservoirs and Julian Huxley’s work in 1914 on the life of a grebe. He was one of the earliest people to turn birdwatching into a science. I feel privileged to have stood near to the spot where he did watching the ancestors of the great crested grebes that i watch feeding today.
